What inspired you to create Wedding Window?

The concept for Wedding Window was developed while I was in the midst of planning my own wedding. The process of managing and distributing our wedding details to my guests caused me to ask myself if there was a better way to communicate this information. Being a web designer, I decided to create my own wedding website in order to allow my guests to download directions to the wedding and reception, link to accommodation ideas, learn more about me and my fiancé and view photos of the actual proposal. After receiving a great deal of positive feedback regarding my own wedding website from my wedding guests, I decided to turn my idea into a business and in 2001, I launched the original version of WeddingWindow.com.

Was there a particular niche you were looking to target with Wedding Window? Please describe.

Although all brides and grooms can benefit from having a wedding website, the original niche that we targeted was destination wedding brides and grooms. Destination weddings were and are a rising trend and as I’m sure you know, a great deal of communication is required to successfully organize and plan destination wedding. Wedding websites are the perfect vehicle for sharing those wedding details with wedding guests. Over time, our niche has expanded and is now focused on accommodating brides and grooms who are looking for a way to create a custom wedding website without the need to hire a custom designer. Our customizable options allow couples to create a custom website that incorporates their own colors, fonts and wedding photography in their website design. This allows them to create a site that is uniquely theirs.

What features does Wedding Window offer that set it apart from other wedding website products?

The key features we offer are our customizable options. Our tools are designed to allow the couple to visualize their design before they save their changes. They can match their colors exactly to the colors they have selected for their wedding and can upload their own photography into their website design. The can also customize each of their website pages and page content and can even hide our copyright information if they choose to do so. Since the couple can make all of their custom wedding website changes on their own and are not dependent on a website designer to insert those custom elements for them, they can change and update their website as often as they like in real time.

Couples can also create custom website pages and can activate and deactivate them as often as they like. They can even create navigational links to external websites, which is a great option if they wish to create a link directly from their site navigation to their ceremony/reception site website, their Facebook page or a Flickr account.

How do couples go about setting up their own Wedding Window website?

It’s as simple as filling out a form to get started. Once a couple has selected a design, they have completed the basic steps required to have an active wedding website. From there, they can add content as they are prepared to do so. Couples can create a simple site that communicates basic information about their wedding in a matter of minutes. However, if they would prefer to use the site to its fullest, they can use all of the tools available to them to create a robust site that is full of great information for their guests.
