I was doing some online shopping yesterday when I came across a link for The Wedding Shop at Macy’s. We refer brides all the time to Macy’s for their registries and for gifts, but I had no idea that part of their online shopping site was dedicated specifically to weddings. Well, I checked it out and came away impressed. The Wedding Shop at Macy’s offers a variety of products to complete your wedding day look, including bridal gowns. Now, don’t expect to find a huge selection of gowns. What they offer are a small, yet tasteful selection of simple, beautiful gowns and dresses perfect for intimate and destination weddings. They also offer a number of options for bridal party attire, party dresses perfect for rehearsal dinners or after parties, suits for the groom and his groomsmen, cute flowergirl and ringbearer attire, shoes, and a nice selection of jewelry and accessories. Here are a few of my personal favorites from The Wedding Shop:
Happy Shopping!
The New York Bridal Market recently wrapped in April, and the designers did not disappoint with their Spring 2011 lines. Noted trends and details we are loving include ruffles, asymmetrical one-shoulder designs, tiers, floral details and appliques, mini dresses, sculptural details, and lovely historically inspired styles. The new designs are predominantly strapless, but brides who prefer a gown with straps or sleeves have decidedly more options to choose from in the new collections.
Some of our favorite runway standouts include (all photos from www.marthastewart.com “From The Runway”):
Romona Keveza
Rivini
Ines Di Santo
Ann Barge
Carolina Herrera

Central Florida brides can find designs by Anne Barge and Rivini at Solutions Bridal Designer House located in the Shoppes of Millenia on Conroy Road.
Congratulations to all the newly engaged brides out there who were proposed to over the holidays! Now begins the planning and the search for “the” dress. Central Florida has a number of fine bridal salons you may visit in your quest to find the perfect dress. Please remember, the bridal salons do get quite busy, especially on the weekend, so definitely call to set an appointment ahead of time to ensure personalized attention and service.
Several of the salons have special trunk shows scheduled this month and into February. A trunk show is a special event at the salon during which time either the designer, or representative of the designer, brings their newest line or features their current line at the salon. There is nothing like getting to see a line for the first time and trying on new designs. It is a also great time to learn more about the designer, the collection being featured, and ask specific questions about what alterations can be made to a design. Sometimes the salon will offer additional specials during the showcase. If you decide to attend a trunk show, again please be sure to make an appointment. There can be limited appointments available at some shows, even more so if a particular designer is on site. Here is a sampling of upcoming trunk shows in the Central Florida area.

The Knot has announced their top hot trends for 2010. Trends that will continue to influence weddings this year include vintage and retro inspired themes as well as specialty photo booths. At Uniquely Yours we love to create weddings that tell and reflect the story of our couples. And we are always looking for ways to make weddings more personal, unique, and memorable for the guests. So we were glad to see several fresh ideas make the trend list for 2010. We will share our favorites from the list in the days to follow.
First up is The Knot’s Hot Trend Number 4: Shorter Tea-Length Dresses.

This trend follows vintage and retro inspired weddings. But you don’t have to have to plan a vintage wedding to wear one of these fresh and sassy dresses. They are perfect for spring or daytime weddings. And in Florida, where our days are sunny and outdoor ceremonies highly desired, these dresses would be appropriate in a beautiful garden or even on a beachside boardwalk. These dresses are perfect for showing off your taste in shoes too – so select a stunning pair to compliment. Stephanie James Couture is our favorite designer for tea length, vintage inspired fashion with a twist. If you love this trend, check out the Stephanie James Couture website here.
