Today is the last day of Wedding Chair Week, and given that there are so many other chair options available, we thought we would present a mixed grouping of chair alternatives. When thinking about your wedding aesthetic, pay particular attention to the chairs that are available at your selected venue to be sure it is a good fit. If not, then go have some fun finding the perfect seat for your guests to suit your wedding style.

That wraps up Wedding Chair Week. The Uniquely Yours planning team wishes you all a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Go fill it with some great memories!
The ghost chair is a uniquely modern interpretation of the classic Louis XV armchair. Designed by Phillippe Starck, the chair has been a favorite among interior designers and only recently made its debut in the events industry.
The chairs are quite versatile. Well suited to both formal and informal occasions, the ghost chair is available in a variety of colors. The original version of the ghost chair is the Louis chair featuring arms and a medallion back.

A more feminine version, Victoria, is now available as well. It is armless and has a slimmer profile. The Victoria is also available in a rainbow of colors.

The ghost chair really does set off a table-setting, and is sure to cause quite a stir among guests.

Don’t you love how the chairs pick up the color of the ambient lighting in the room?

We think a great way to personalize the ghost chair would be to attach a removable transfer to the back such as a monogram, your wedding motif, or pattern. The ghost chair is available to rent regionally, but only via a limited number of providers. Prices are on the higher end, ranging from $30 to $60 per chair. That said, we have noted summer specials this year offering the chairs for as low as $15 with a rental of 150 or more chairs.
What do you think of when you hear the word “chameleon”? Adaptable? Camouflaged? Versatile? Today’s featured chair, the chameleon chair, is definitely versatile and oh so easily changed up to suit it’s environment. The options for design with this chair are limitless, as seen in these stunning events and style shoots:

The cushions are interchangeable and the backs support a variety of toppers. Wildflower Linen has created an incredible selection of toppers and skirts for the chameleon chair. (Images Source)

This chair is available in a variety of colors, though we prefer the more nature neutral brown, mahogany, and bamboo varieties. This chair is best used for seating at outdoor ceremonies and receptions. If you are considering using this chair at an indoor venue, please note that it is best suited for more informal occasions such as a brunch or cake and punch reception.

Dress up the chair with ribbon embellishments, wood or paper initials, sweet sentiments on hanging signs, touches of floral, or even fabric sashes if you desire. Prices on these chairs vary regionally from $2.00 to $8.00 per chair.
Many of our clients as of late have been especially interested in chair design and décor. Whether the overall wedding design is simple or simply over the top, there are many different chair options available for consideration to suit the look and comfort level you desire.
Today we bring you the chiavari chair. The chiavari chair hails from the the Italian city of Chiavari, between Genoa and the Cinque Terre. Over time the chair has moved from fine dining rooms to grand ballrooms, and is a popular choice today for both indoor and outdoor affairs. You can read more about the history of the chiavari chair by checking out a recent post from one of our favorite blogs, Design Sponge.

The chiavari is available in a rainbow of solid colors and even lucite which is often called the “ice“ chiavari. Even though they are a popular rental item, they may not be found in many areas. Rates will vary regionally and may cost anywhere from $6.00 to $20.00 a chair depending upon color and quantity required.

Whether you decide to use the chair for a bridal shower, ceremony, or reception, please keep your guests comfort in mind. Sitting in the chairs for an extended period of time can become uncomfortable, so be sure your provider offers a substantial cushion made specifically for the chair. You can also find a variety of cushion covers to suit your color palette.
Though the chairs make a beautiful furnishings statement on their own, you may want to add some embellishment. We have used floral and ribbon trimmings on the sides and backs of the chairs for several clients. And we have sourced a variety of chiavari chair caps and skirts for other clients.

We love when our Uniquely Yours clients think outside the proverbial box as it pertains to wedding entertainment. Interactive entertainment features are quite trendy. Over the last few years, photobooths have been a fun interactive option for wedding guests, and we have seen numerous models from vintage to completely custom themed. Most include an attendant, a printed keepsake photograph, and some type of guestbook. None of them, however, have the “coolness” and creative appeal of the newest “photobooth” now available for weddings and special events – PhotoMingle.

PhotoMingle has all the features of a typical photobooth, allowing guests to take photographs and record video messages, but goes beyond the typcial with an interactive display screen that allows guests to write personal messages on their photographs with the touch of a fingertip. Guests can also manipulate and view the photographs on screen. The Uniquely Yours team recently had an opportunity to preview the PhotoMingle in action at a local industry event. It was a huge attraction for all the guests in attendance, and we had a great time testing out the features.

The professionals at PhotoMingle also offer a guestbook/photobook that features all the personal photos and messages your guests created. You can see a demonstration video of the PhotoMingle and reserve one for your event by visiting the website at www.photomingle.com. Future plans for the PhotoMingle include connections to Facebook and Twitter as well as an iPhone application. We look forward to watching our clients and their guests have fun with the PhotoMingle at future weddings and parties!

Season Three of Get Married’s popular planning show on WeTV continues with seven new episodes starting on Saturday, July 3rd at 9:30 AM EST.
Show host and Get Married founder Stacie Francombe, spends time with real brides as she guides them through an array of bridal experiences and participates in inspiring challenges with wedding professionals and experts.
The line-up of new episodes unveils the hottest wedding trends and shocking surprises including a customized father-daughter dance song written by singer-songwriter, Edwin McCain.

The New York Bridal Market recently wrapped in April, and the designers did not disappoint with their Spring 2011 lines. Noted trends and details we are loving include ruffles, asymmetrical one-shoulder designs, tiers, floral details and appliques, mini dresses, sculptural details, and lovely historically inspired styles. The new designs are predominantly strapless, but brides who prefer a gown with straps or sleeves have decidedly more options to choose from in the new collections.
Some of our favorite runway standouts include (all photos from www.marthastewart.com “From The Runway”):
